Re-Arrested: Reports That Power Exec Aristides Floros Forged Medical Documents to Get Prison Release

Following much public outcry, a Supreme Court prosecutor on Friday ordered the re-examination of the case of Aristides Floros, who has been re-arrested after being released early from prison due to a medical disability.
The re-arrest is due to questions regarding the authenticity of medical records accounting for Floros’ alleged disability which causes him to suffer from seizures – the reason he was released from Halkida Prison last week, just 36 months into his 21-year sentence.
Reportedly, the new evidence prompted the re-arrest of Floros, the former managing director of power supplier Energa who was sentenced to 21 years in prison back in February 2017 for an array of crimes including embezzlement, smuggling and money laundering.
These charges were in addition to the charges that Floros already faced from 2014 when he was found guilty and sentenced to 13 years in prison for ordering an assassination attempt against a lawyer.
Reports late on Friday revealed that after an emergency council of appeals court, judges in the Evia town of Halkida, Floros was remanded in custody at his home in the southern Athens suburb of Glyfada, while Skai news reported that a warrant is going to be issued for his arrest as a fugitive.
The Supreme Court prosecutor also ordered the judicial authorities in Halkida to re-examine the vague evidence presented on the part of the judicial authorities in Halkida, as the documentation stated that Floros suffered from a 67 percent disability, which is the exact amount needed to secure his release according to Greek law.
Furthermore, late Friday evening, a doctor came forward claiming that his signature had been forged on medical records responsible for the release of Floros.
