Corfu Man Arrested, Fined €30,000 for Pouring Gasoline on Dog

On the island of Corfu, a 62-year-old man has been arrested and fined 30,000 euros for chaining his dog to an electric pole and pouring gasoline on it, to get rid of fleas.
According to local reports, the sickening act took place Tuesday afternoon around the area of Solari.
Residents who saw the incident immediately reported it to police.
Reports say that the 6-year-old dog belonged to a relative of the accused man.
The dog was cleaned and given proper medical treatment, and has been re-homed.
