Greek Unemployment Falls in May


The Greek unemployment rate fell to 19.5 percent (seasonally adjusted) in May from 21.7 percent in May 2017 and 20 percent in April 2018, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) said on Thursday.
In a monthly report the statistics service said the number of employed people totaled 3,824,393 in May and the number of unemployed 924,941.
Employment was up 70,052 compared with May 2017 (an increase of 1.9 percent) and up 48,884 compared with April 2018 (an increase of 1.3 percent).
The number of unemployed people fell 113,718 compared with May 2017 (down 10.9 percent) and by 18,029 compared with April 2018 (down 1.9 percent).
