Greek WWI Memorials Attract Interest of UK Tour Operators

Allied cemetery in Kilkis, northern Greece

World War I monuments and sites in northern Greece have attracted the interest of British tour operators, who are including them in their tour itineraries.
In particular, the “Salonica Front WWI” is promoted as one of the 10 top war memorial tours in the world, according to the Daily Mail newspaper.
The English tour operator “Planet Holidays” offers a five-day programme of themed tours in central Macedonia that focus on WWI memorials.
A promotional campaign by the Tourism Organization of Thessaloniki and the Region of Kilkis on “World War I- Memorial Tourism in Greece” began last year with a get-acquainted visit for foreign tour operators and journalists.
The package includes visits to battlefields and Allied cemeteries in Thessaloniki and Kilkis.
