Greek Judges Quash Controversial Irianna Conviction

Greek judges have quashed the controversial conviction of two people jailed in 2016 for serious terrorism offences.
Five appeals judges ruled that the pair — identified only by their first names Irianna and Pericles — should be cleared.
They were to be serving 13 years, after initially being found guilty of belonging to an ultra-left outfit called the Conspiracy Cells of Fire.
The urban guerrilla group was known for carrying out a series of letter bomb attacks and the convicting evidence had taken the form of partial DNA and fingerprints found on weapons.
Earlier attempts to appeal were quashed, which saw protests from government ministers and also prompted violent street protests.
