Athens' Foodies Flock to Cannabis-Oil Souvlaki Joint (video)

A taverna and grill in Athens that serves souvlaki, smoked trout or eel in pita bread has become a hit for one extra-special ingredient: cannabis oil.
Now that the cultivation and production of cannabis for medical purposes has become legal in Greece, it seems that the controversial substance has entered the world of gastronomy as well.
Prigkipas at Exarhia gourmet grill is no average souvlaki place. Kostis, the owner, says that his specialties are smoked eel, trout, wild boar and other exotic meat and fish. Less-traditional extras in the pita, such as fava or capers, are also on offer.
The irony is that, in reality, most of these meats and fish are not exotic at all since they are produced in Greece.
Mixing all these fresh, Greek ingredients in a pita along with cannabis oil and what you get is a gourmet souvlaki — less traditional, but definitely delicious.
News of the cannabis cooking comes as Athens hosts a massive three-day expo on the plant, backed by the Greek government.
