“Sopranos” actress Jamie-Lynn Sigler hosted a fundraiser for one of the victims of the Parkland shooting, Meadow Pollack.

One of the victims of the tragic Valentine’s Day shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School, Meadow was just 18 years old when she was killed. Meadow’s father, Andrew Pollack, actually named his daughter as Sigler’s character in the “Sopranos”, Meadow Soprano.

The actress was moved by Andrew’s story so much that she went to Florida to host a “Meadow’s Movement” fundraiser. Sigler said, “when you witness the tragedy they had to go through, you want to be involved and you want to feel like you can offer anything. By sharing the namesake with this beautiful soul that was lost makes a difference and I’m happy to be here.”

Proceeds from the event will be used to build a playground in Meadow’s memory. Andrew Pollack has become a prominent advocate for increased security in schools since the shooting, and plans to host many more fundraisers in Meadow’s honor.

Sigler added, “no parent should ever have to lose a child. I lost a brother two years ago and to see what my parents went through — it’s unfair. To see the way Andrew has taken such strength and power in his daughter’s name to fight for is just beautiful.”

Many Stoneman Douglas students were present at the event, and some came together to perform the song “Shine”.
