UK Royals Reveal Greek Visit Itinerary

British royals Prince Charles and his wife the Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting Greece next week in what it will be the first time in modern Greek history that members of the British royal family will be official guests in the country.
According to the official itinerary, the royal couple will visit Athens and Crete during their stay which begins on Wednesday, May 9, and will last until Friday, May 11.
The couple will arrive at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport on the afternoon of May 9. Immediately after, they will travel to central Athens to lay a wreath at the Unknown Soldier’s Monument in Syntagma Square.
Meetings with President Prokopis Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras are scheduled for later.
In the evening, the couple will attend an official dinner hosted by Pavlopoulos at the Presidential Palace.
On Thursday morning, Prince Charles will meet Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Ieronymos II and later he will lay a wreath at the Allied Military Cemetery.
He is also scheduled to visit British naval ships docked in the port of Piraeus which are participating in joint search-and-rescue operations with Greek coast guard vessels.
He will also visit the historic battleship – cruiser G. Averoff that is docked in Flisvos, Paleo Faliro.
Meanwhile, the Duchess of Cornwall will be visiting the Kesariani Monastery where she will attend an event on the occasion of the proclamation of Athens as the World Book Capital 2018.
On Friday, May 11, the royal couple will fly to Crete where they will visit the archaeological site of Knossos. After touring the site, Prince Charles will visit the premises of the British Archaeological School.
In the early afternoon they will visit a migrant center in the town of Ano Archanes, near Heraklion and later will attend a traditional celebration in the main square of the village, with cultural activities and a display of Crete’s traditional products.
