Greek Newspapers' Sales on a Freefall


Greek newspapers’ sales fell 19.6 percent to 57,614,541 in 2017, from 71,641,595 in 2016, after suffering a 15.9 percent decline in the previous year, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.
The statistics service, in a report, said that religious newspapers were the exception to this decline, recording a 13.2 percent increase in sales.
Political newspapers’ sales fell 21.2 percent, sports newspapers fell 11.9 percent and financial newspapers dropped 28.8 percent in 2017.
Sales of magazines fell 15.4 percent in 2017 to 22,731,970 issues, compared with 2016, with the exception of musical magazines, which grew 6.7 percent.
