EU Consulates General in Toronto, including Greece’s, are inviting everyone to come to the official EU flag-raising ceremony to mark Europe Day on May 9.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. at Queen’s Park – Legislative Assembly of Ontario, located at 111 Wellesley Street West, Toronto.
The EU Consulates General in Toronto invite everyone to celebrate in honor of peace and unity in the continent.
This date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration where, during a speech in Paris in 1950, Robert Schuman, the French foreign minister at that time, put forth his idea for a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make war between European countries unthinkable.
Schuman’s proposal is thought to have given birth to what is now known as the European Union.
