Greek Islanders Paint Huge Flag on Kalymnos (video)

Locals from the island of Kalymnos in the Dodecanese, have shown their patriotism by painting a huge 4,000 square feet Greek flag on a rocky slope overlooking the capital.
According to kalymnos-news.gr the idea began with two brothers, painters by profession, who were assisted in the project by several volunteers.
They now hope the local council will install lights which will illuminate their creation at night.
Kalymnos, widely known as an international sponge-harvesting trade center, is a stone’s-throw away from the western coast of Turkey.
A few miles eastwards lie the islets of Imia, whose sovereignty is disputed by Turkey. Local fishermen have been complaining that they cannot fish in the waters as the Turkish coast guard is fending them off.
