Dozens of amateur dancers have taken over the pier at Gialos in Mykonos in a spectacular display of the traditional ‘hasapiko’.
The annual event marks the beginning of the tourist season in the cosmopolitan island and it aims to show that Mykonos is not just a destination for the jet-set but is also rich in Greek culture and tradition.
Performers danced the Mykonos-style hasapiko, which differs from the classic hasapiko due to the variety and difficulty of the moves.
Wearing the traditional cap, they formed a huge human chain and danced to the sounds of favorite Greek songs.
Visitors and locals alike joined in the dancing spectacle which started in 2014 and has since become an institution.
