Greek Super League Posts Fixtures for Ill-Fated 2017/2018 Season

The Greek Super League on Tuesday posted its confirmed fixtures list for the 26th and 27th games of its ill-fated 2017/2018 season.
Greek football’s senior league competition was suspended on March 12 by the government following scenes of PAOK owner Ivan Savvidis entering the pitch with a firearm during a fraught top-of-the-table clash against AEK.
PAOK had a three-point deduction for crowd trouble overturned on appeal just hours before the potential title-deciding clash with AEK. Fans also rioted in Thessaloniki on Sunday before the game.
It was a second consecutive home game for PAOK marred by violent incidents. On Feb. 25, a PAOK-Olympiacos game never began as a missile struck Olympiacos coach Oscar Garcia in the face before kickoff.
PAOK was punished by losing the game in court, which gave Olympiacos the three points.
On Tuesday, Deputy Sports Minister Giorgos Vassiliadis confirmed matches would resume again this weekend, as would the Greek Cup.
The decision follows talks between the government, football officials and the 16 clubs to try and end a string of scandals over docked points, fan trouble and threats against officials.
It has been reported that clubs will be responsible for security inside stadiums, not the police. Clubs whose fans cause trouble four times in a season could be relegated and officials who make ‘inflammatory’ statements could also be sanctioned.
