Turkish Fighter Jets Harass Greek Army Chief's Helicopter

Turkish fighter aircraft reportedly harassed the helicopter carrying the Greek Army Chief and other top officers as they were flying from the Greek islet of Ro to Rhodes on Thursday.
According to Greek defense sources, Turkish F16 jets, that took off from the Dalaman airbase base, reached as close as 2,500-3,000 feet from the helicopter.
The pilots radioed the helicopter to change course claiming that it was flying over Turkish airspace.
Two Greek F16s intervened to establish a safety cordon around the helicopter and push the Turkish jets away.
The latest incident comes at a period when Turkey has intensified its provocations in the Aegean and Cyprus.
European Union leaders are expected to condemn Turkey’s provocative actions in the Aegean and express “full solidarity with Cyprus and Greece” at Thursday’s meeting of the European Council in Brussels.
