Anna Korakaki Secures her First World Cup Gold in Women’s 25m Pistol

Greece’s Anna Korakaki on Sunday won the gold medal in the Women’s 25m Pistol in the ISSF World Cup held in Guadalajara, Mexico, her first gold after the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Germany’s Doreen Vonnekamp, who took silver, and French shooter Mathilde Lamolle, who won bronze joined Korakaki on the podium.
This was the first gold for Korakaki in the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup.
“I’ve been through a really tough time in the last months,” Korakaki said after receiving the medal. “That’s why I was crying, this medal came with a great timing for me.”
“I would like to thank my mother, my brother, my father and coach and my boyfriend, who all have been very supportive with me in this period,” she continued. “And also my new sponsor, who will be with me until Tokyo 2020.”
Korakaki managed 29 hits for the gold medal, while Vonnekamp took silver with 27. Lamolle scored 24 hits for third place.
