Five men convicted in a Greek court of piloting a ship with almost 600 migrants, have had all the charges against them dropped.
The crew of the Baris — a stranded freighter found to be carrying men, women and children to Europe in 2014 — should be tried in Kiribati, a small republic in the Pacific, the Cretan court said on Monday.
The ship had been flying the Kiribati flag and had been towed to Greece from international waters; meaning the Greek court has no jurisdiction, it was claimed.
