Protesting Workers Storm Greek Ministry of Employment (video)

Angry scenes erupted in downtown Athens on Tuesday when communist-affiliated labor unionists smashed their way into employment ministry offices.
A large crowd from the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) stormed the headquarters of the Ministry of Employment following a rally against proposed reforms to Greece’s labor laws.
Video footage from the scene showed chanting protesters forcing open barriers in front of the building and breaking glass doors once past the shutters.
Shouting slogans against the government and Greece’s creditors they then forced their way into the main building.
Demonstrators also tore down the doorplate and replaced it with a slogan reading: “Ministry of the IMF, European Union and Employers.”
There was no visible police presence.

PAME, which is a trade union affiliated to the Greek Communist Party, has been demonstrating against reforms contained in a series of bills containing the final measures Greece needs to enact to enter the last phase of its economic bailout program.
Among the reforms, according to PAME, are measures which will insist a majority of union members vote for industrial action before a strike is legal.
This is a restriction on the right to strike, PAME claims.
The 600-pages of legislation cover some 60 of 110 prior actions. Of these, 30 have already been settled and the remaining 20 more will be enacted over the next few days in ministerial decrees.
