The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be helming a new movie museum project which will be overseen by a 12-member group of trustees including Paramount Chairman Jim Gianopulos, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos, and Tom Hanks.

The head of the organization will be NBCUniversal vice chairman Ron Meyer.

Meyer seemed very happy with the selection of the members of the board of trustees, as he said, “with the formation of this board of trustees, we have real momentum. I couldn’t be more pleased by the talent we’ve gathered to oversee this great new institution.”

The group’s first meeting will be held on Monday, December 11. Sarandos will be the vice chair of the board, with producer Jason Blum as treasurer, and producer Kimberly Steward as secretary.

Academy Museum Director Kerry Broughe added her insight into the board of trustees, stating, “the leaders who have joined together as the Academy Museum’s trustees are among the most respected and influential figures in the world of motion pictures and philanthropy.”

The museum’s grand opening is expected to take place in 2019.
