Tight Security in Place for Erdogan’s Visit to Greece


Greek security services are on high alert for Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan‘s visit to Greece on Thursday.
Greek and Turkish police officers who have arrived in Athens, are putting together a security plan to ensure that Erdogan’s visit passes without any incidents.
According to Greek press reports, a group of Turkey’s elite forces have already arrived in Athens and are checking the routes that Erdogan will be taking, during his visit.
More are expected to arrive later on Monday and Tuesday and will be in constant contact with their Greek counterparts.
At least 10 armoured cars will be available for Erdogan and his entourage in Athens.
Erdogan will meet Greece’s leadership including President Pavlopoulos and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.
On Friday, the Turkish president is expected to visit Thrace where a large population of Turkish speakers reside.
