Two Syrian men, one disguised as a woman, were arrested at El. Venizelos International Airport late on Wednesday, while trying to board a plane to Vienna.
A 25-year-old Syrian national presented the second man as his spouse, and showed authorities an authentic travel document and residence permit for Germany, which had originally been issued to a female refugee.
The 25-year-old had his three-year-old son with him and carried 1,185 euros, which authorities confiscated after a body search.
Both were arrested and led to the misdemeanours prosecutor of Athens for violation of the Migration and Social Integration Code.
