Woman Injured in 17 November Riots Remains in Critical Condition

A 55-year-old woman who was injured during the riots at Exarchia in Athens last Friday remains in critical but stable condition at Evangelismos hospital.
Lawyer Anastasia Tsoukalas was seriously injured when a flare thrown by anarchists hit her on the legs, following the yearly march to the US Embassy.
Hospital staff say that she remains at the intensive care unit of the hospital after a “complicated” surgery to her left knee that was badly burned.
She also has serious respiratory complications because she had inhaled chemicals from petrol bombs and tear gas during the riots.
Tsoulakas has devoted much of her career defending protestors in courts and criticizing police tactics during demonstrations.
Her horrific injury was captured on video, in which she can be heard screaming in pain.
