Greek Politicians, Athens Mayor Condemn Lawyer's Murder

Politicians and the mayor of Athens have unanimously condemned the murder of prominent lawyer Michalis Zafeiropoulos, some expressing worry over security in the  capital.
President of the Republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, phoned Zafeiropoulos’ family to express his condolences, and described the murder as “cowardly”.
Minister of Justice Stavros Kontonis spoke of a “cold murder” and a “cowardly action against a colleague at his place of work,” and expressed his warm condolences to his family.
House Speaker Nikos Voutsis said it is “imperative to solve the murder case” saying it caused him “sadness and dismay”, calling Zafeiropoulos a “respected member of the legal community.”
PASOK leader Fofi Gennimata said that the murder “intensifies the feeling of insecurity” and expressed her condolences to his family. She said it is “a heavy blow to law and justice” and described the act as a “Mafia-style attack”.
To Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis expressed his sadness for the death of Zafeiropoulos, calling the murder “in the heart of Athens sad and disturbing.”
Mayor of Athens Giorgos Kaminis said that “the citizens’ patience for the government’s attitude towards lawlessness has long been exhausted” and expressed his condolences to the Zafeiropoulos family.
