On Sunday, the Greek community of Parramatta and the surrounding suburbs of Sydney, celebrated the annual “Let’s Go Greek” festival, organized by the localĀ Greek Orthodox Parish & Community of “St Ioannis”.
During the all-day festival, Greek dance groups, among them the Pontocenete Pontian Brotherhood of New South Wales, brought Greece a little closer to Diaspora Greeks in Australia.
This year’s festivities included songs from the Australian Byzantine Choir and members of the church choir, activities for adults and children, Greek children’s theater and exhibition with works by Greek-Australian artists, under the auspicesĀ of the Consulate General of Greece
The Greek festival culminated with performances by native dance groups, sending the message that Greece lives forever in the hearts of the Greeks, regardless of where they are, and they will honor their homeland wherever they are.
The Pontian dance troupe presented a large number of their native dances, and won the warmest applause.
