Anastasiades: Cyprus Cannot Survive Having as Guarantors the Invaders

It is not possible to survive having as guarantors those who invaded Cyprus, President Nicos Anastasiades has said.
Cyprus, as a European country, does not need guarantees nor does it need the presence of Turkish army and rights of intervention, he added speaking on Thursday evening at an event organised by the occupied municipality of Lysi.
The President stressed that Europe and the UN provide mechanisms and after so many years the conditions are there for both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots to live peacefully in a reunited homeland, where they will respect the rights of each other and where everyone will feel safe.
The President said that it is inconceivable, at the same time, for the Turkish side to call for a military base in Cyprus and he wondered why do we need troops stationed on the island since we are not in any danger from any neighbouring countries.
