Golden Dawn Trial Resumes after Summer Recess

The trial of far-rightist Golden Dawn party for allegedly being a criminal organization resumed after summer recess on Tuesday at a specially designed courtroom in Korydallos Prison.
The trial started in April 2015, prompted by the slaying of outspoken activist rapper Pavlos Fyssas on September 18, 2013 by self-confessed Golden Dawn member Giorgos Roupakias.
The prosecution has called 131 people to testify to back the accusation that the extreme-rightist party is a criminal organization with an hierarchy that directs the actions of its members. So far, 112 witnesses have testified to that effect.
Other than the murder of Fyssas, the court will examine accusations that Golden Dawn party members violently attacked migrants and PAME unionists – a Greek Communist Party affiliate.
The trial resumed with the testimony of Theodoros Pisimisis, an employee at the Halandri municipal authority who claims he was assaulted by about two dozen Golden Dawn supporters protesting the imprisonment of fellow party members.
