A freight train on the Athens – Thessaloniki route was derailed in Fthiotida, central Greece around 2:30 on Thursday morning.
There are no reports of injuries.
The accident which happened near the town of Domokos, led to the closure of the railway line.
According to local media, replacement buses are operating between the Lianokladi – Paleofarsalo route to transport passengers.
Reporters say that the train derailed in an inaccessible area which it makes it difficult for the engineers to remove the damaged train and restore traffic.
