Capital Link Forum Addresses Corporate Social Responsibility

The 7th Annual Capital Link Corporate Social Responsibility Conference held in Athens on Thursday gathered an esteemed crowd of about a 1,000 attendees. The conference was entitled “Investing in Development — The New Face of CSR” and was held at the Athens Hilton Hotel.
This year’s conference focused on the importance of investing in development, not only as a form of Corporate Social Responsibility but also as a way for Greek businesses to leave the economic crisis behind and, by extension, helping the country’s economy recover from the slump.
During the event Capital Link honored Nicholas Loggothetis, Co-founder and Chairman of Concordia and Michael Tsamaz, Chairman and CEO of OTE.

The conference offered participants, and especially young entrepreneurs, a practical guide to get aid and finance their proposals, as well as presenting initiatives, programs and contacts that contribute to this. This year, the conference offered a platform through which communication between companies, individuals and stakeholders has been bridged, creating effective relationships between them.
The Capital Link conference brought together government officials, representatives of local government, Greek and multinational company executives and investors currently active in Greece.
Among the participants were Deputy Minister of Economy and Development Stergios Pitsiorlas, Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis, representatives of National Bank of Greece and Piraeus Bank, senior representatives of European and International Organizations such as the European Investment Bank, International Finance Corporation (IFC), European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Atlantic Bank of N.Y., Ernst & Young, McKinsey & Company, Greece’s Public Power Corporation and Hellenic Petroleum, American investors Nicholas Logothetis, John Calamos, John Koudounis, Dean Metropoulos, Matt Fairfield of the EXIN Group, Pavlos Kanellopoulos of AIG, Backrock, Hellas Gold S.A., Papastratos S.A., ICAP Group and others.
The conference had two sides: The business side and the social side. In the first, specific actions and programs undertaken by Greek and international companies were highlighted. International organizations and expatriate entrepreneurs have contributed effectively to a positive image for Greece and attracting investments.
From the social point of view, in a specially designed area, the conference allowed the opportunity for about 100 organizations from all over Greece to present their work, activities and initiatives. This gave them visibility to companies abroad as well as to Diaspora Greeks.
Capital Link started the Annual CSR conferences seven years ago in cities such as New York, London and Singapore.
