Conducted on behalf of Skai television, the survey shows that the majority of Greeks do not believe the prime minister’s claim that he has negotiated hard with creditors and brought the least painful measures, as 40% of Greek citizens responded.
Regarding which administration implemented the most painful measures, 17.5% believe it was the George Papandreou government (2010-2011), while 13.5% of respondents said the most painful package of measures was brought by Antonis Samaras (2012-2015).
The vast majority of citizens consider that the current government brought two memoranda of understanding (78%), while government officials insist that the new agreement with creditors is not an MoU. At the same time, only 12% of respondents said that these measures can get the country out of the crisis. Eight out of 10 (82%) of citizens believe that the new measures will affect their personal income very much or quite. Also, the more weak financially responded that they were affected more by the new measures than those who are in a better financial situation.
Regarding the government’s argument that the new harsh measures will be accompanied by countermeasures that will eventually lead to a zero impact on households, 79.5% of citizens believe that countermeasures are only for communication purposes and only 10% are optimistic about the countermeasures. Indeed, 83.5% of the respondents are of the opinion that they will personally benefit little or none at all from the countermeasures.
On the debt negotiation, as 73.5% of respondents believe the government is not negotiating effectively on this issue. However, 19% have a good opinion on how the government negotiates.
As far as voting intention is concerned, New Democracy maintains a strong lead over SYRIZA. The main opposition party accounted for 32.5% of respondents’ preference against 16.5% of SYRIZA. Following are KKE and Golden Dawn, with 7.5% each, the Democratic Coalition with 5.5%.

The rest of the parties in the poll do not gather the necessary 3% to be represented in parliament. Specifically, the Centrists Union is at 2.5%, ANEL and ANTARSYA at 2% each, To Potami and Plefsi Eleftherias at 1.5% each.
Also, 69% believe New Democracy will win the next elections, while only 12.5% said that about SYRIZA. ND chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis appears more suitable for prime minister for 30% of respondents, while Alexis Tsipras is favored by 19.5%. However, an impressive 49% responded that neither is convincing enough to lead the country.
