WHO: Greek Adolescents are Most Obese in Europe


The World Health Organization (WHO) released a new report on adolescent obesity in Europe and named Greece the champion of having the most overweight teens.
The report said that 6.5 percent of Greek adolescents are overweight, meaning that one in three of the youth population are considered obese, while the average for Europe is only 4 percent per country.
Dr. Zsuzsanna Jakab, the WHO regional director for Europe said that the highest rates for overweight adolescents is in southern Europe and attributes the rise in child obesity over the last 15 years to poor eating habits, lack of physical activity and economic factors throughout the region.
