Train Derailment in Greece Leaves 3 Dead

An intercity train traveling on the Athens-Thessaloniki route got derailed and eventually crashed into a house, a few hours after leaving Athens on Saturday.
Three people lost their lives as a result of the accident and 10 more were injured, including the driver. The railway company TRAINOSE has reported that three of the injured are in serious condition.
Most of the 70 passengers were safely evacuated within three hours of the accident which happened near the station at Adendro, about 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the northern city of Thessaloniki.
A 24-year-old man who lived in the house which was hit told reporters that he managed to jump off a balcony to safety just before the crash.
There is an ongoing investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
