Deputy Migration Min Balafas: Management of Refugees Flow Under Control

The management of the refugees flow in Greece is under total control, stated Deputy Migration Policy Minister Yiannis Balafas to Athens Macedonian News Agency radio “Praktoreio 104.9 FM” on Friday and announced that in the next year the refugees that have remained in Greece will be housed in apartments.
“Approximately 50,000-60,000 migrants and refugees are in Greece in the last one and a half years after the closing of the borders and the EU-Turkey agreement. This number remains the same because we have low flows and a number of migrants and refugees are being relocated to other European countries” said Balafas adding “people come and go, it is a continuous process that is under total control” he explained.
Regarding the hosting facilities operating in Greece, he said that the conditions are acceptably decent while a large number are now housed in apartments and the rent is paid by the European Union and is monitored by the UNCHR under the control of the Migration Policy ministry.
On the relocation process, Balafas said that there are countries that refuse to accept their share of within the context of a fair allocation.
