Turkish President Provokes Greece over Hagia Sophia

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan continues his provocations against Greece by saying he will go for Muslim prayer in Hagia Sophia on Holy Friday claiming it is really a mosque and not a museum.
Erdogan used the book “The Hagia Sophia Intrigue” by historian Mustafa as proof that the Byzantine temple is a mosque. In the book Armagan argues that the decree signed by Kemal Ataturk in 1934 which turned the Hagia Sophia from mosque into a museum, is not authentic. According to Armagan, the Kemal Ataturk signature on the decree is false. Therefore the act has no legal value and Hagia Sophia can in fact be used as a mosque.
The historian speaks of an international conspiracy that wanted to turn the Byzantine temple into a museum and not as a mosque. Hagia Sophia is a UNESCO World Heritage monument, thereby Turkey’s efforts to turn it into a mosque are against International Law.
The Turkish president and members of his party will pray at Hagia Sophia two days before the April 16 referendum, an act full of symbolism. According to analysts, Erdogan is turning against Kemalists in order to appeal to his Islamic electorate.
Turkish historian accuses AEK football team of propaganda
Armagan took the Hagia Sophia issue a step further accusing AEK FC of propaganda because there are t-shirts of the team using a picture of Hagia Sophia.
Speaking on Turkish television, the historian said that the Athens football team is using the picture of Hagia Sophia without the Muslim half-moon symbol but with a Christian cross on top. However, the t-shirt is in no way the official team uniform.
The host of the show where the historian appeared on, claimed that the cross on top means that the Greeks are starting a Crusade against Turkey and called on Turkish people to rise and fight for Hagia Sophia.
