Twenty Undocumented Migrants Arrive on Mykonos

Port Authority of Mykonos on Thursday found 20 undocumented migrants who had landed on Merhia beach.
Among the migrants there were 5 children. This is the second time that migrants arrive as far as Mykonos. The first time was in August 2016 when 35 migrants landed on Lia beach.
It was a few minutes after 1:00 am on Thursday when men of Mykonos Port Authority saw the migrants on the beach. After they transferred them to the Port Authority premises, the migrants did not produce any identification papers and all claimed they are Syrian refugees.
The migrants will be held at the Port Authority of the island until Sunday and then they will be transferred to Syros.
A similar incident took place last August, when bathers at Lia beach saw a group of migrants arriving on the beach accompanied by Hellenic Coast Guard staff. They came on a sailboat and landed on Fraggia beach and walked to Lia beach.
