Hank Azaria Gets Rave Reviews As Star of ‘Brockmire’

Hank Azaria is most famous for his voice, which he has used to disguise himself as literally hundreds of characters in “The Simpsons”, but in his new show “Brockmire”, Azaria gets rave reviews for his performance in front of the camera as well.

In the new show on IFC, Azaria plays Jim Brockmire, a disgraced baseball announcer who is struggling to recover his career and image after an on-air meltdown a decade before the series starts. He has spent the last years abroad, and comes back to the US to unfortunately find out that his breakdown after finding his wife in bed with someone else is far from forgotten.

Since Azaria’s character is a bit of an alcoholic, switching between charming people and being an abrasive drunk, his path to redemption is not easy.

Amanda Peet co-stars in the series as Jules, the owner of the minor league baseball team Frackers, who are based in Morristown, where Brockmire ends up.

Both Azaria and Peet turn in stellar performances, and this TV comedy that is part inspiration, part painfully real, raw humor, has audiences excited to see more. Tune in to IFC on Wednesdays at 10 PM to see Azaria in action on “Brockmire”.
