New Single Airport Modernization and Development Levy Will Apply to Children

From next month on, the levy that applies to passengers’ tickets who fly to Greece from outside of the Schengen zone will be the same as those flying within the bloc, however, the levy will also be applying to children’ tickets, sources have reported.
Tickets for children aged 2 to 5 will have the levy applied to their tickets for the first time. Fraport Greece will be seeing the delivery of its 14 regional airports in the country and will be put in control of the airports for the next 40 years, according to the privatization agreement. Next month when they take over, there will be a new single Airport Modernization and Development Levy which will apply to all tickets, the Greek newspaper Kathimerini reported.
The flat-fee levy of 12 euros for all departures to all destinations will last until 2024 when it is expected to drop to 3 euros per each passenger per departing ticket.
Transit passengers are exempt.
