Siemens Cash-for-Contracts Trial Is Once Again Postponed

On Monday, another postponement has developed in the Siemens cash-for-contracts trial taking place in Greece. This postponement is only expected to last one week, and will be back in court March 15. The delay occurred after OTE telecom and the Greek state both filed appeals to seek damages from the trial.
There have been many previous delays in starting the trial. Last July the trial was postponed indefinitely due to missing translations of case-related documents into the German and French languages, after defendants’ lawyers pointed out that according to national law the charge sheet must be in their clients native languages.
The Siemens cash-for-contracts trial details a 4,500 plus paged charge sheet for the case accumulated after around 10 years of investigation into claims that the Siemens’ Greek branch bribed Greek politicians and public officials to secure state contracts.
