Rita Wilson Cast in FOX Series About Sexual Assault

Rita Wilson has just been cast as one of the leads in an untitled new TV series about the high-profile issue of college sexual assaults, premiering on FOX in the fall.

The plot centers on a scandal that gets out of control when a female student accuses multiple college football players of sexual assault at a prestigious Illinois University. Wilson portrays Constance Hawthorn, the head of the college’s Board of Trustees and a powerful force to be reckoned with in the unfolding drama.

Campus sexual assaults has been in the headlines a lot the last few years, and the series aims to explore the powerful universities that sometimes try to hide the problem rather than expose it, as well as the undue influence of college athletics on the process.

The series has a lot of talent working on it both behind and in front of the camera. Wilson has been cast alongside Austin Stowell, who plays the university’s Junior Counsel Matt Kincaid, and Archie Panjabi from “The Good Wife”, who plays crisis management consultant Jourdan Price. Panjabi and Wilson have previously worked together on “The Good Wife”.

Behind the scenes is writer Sheldon Turner, best known for co-writing the critically acclaimed George Clooney-starring feature “Up in the Air”, and executive producer Judy Smith, the co-executive producer of ‘Scandal”.
