Greeks Place Their Hopes on Lottery Tickets

Hundreds of thousands of Greeks have placed their hopes on Sunday’s Joker lottery, where the lucky winner would get at least 14 million euros.
There was no winner after Thursday night’s draw for 12 million euros. Now the lottery company (OPAP) is announcing that Sunday’s Joker earnings would be at least 14 million euros, making Greeks line up in lottery and betting shops.
The lucky numbers in Thursday’s Joker were: 43, 33, 17, 29, 11 and the Joker was 16. No one managed to predict all six numbers correctly to become a millionaire.
The largest amount the Joker lottery ever gave was in April 2010, when three lucky winners shared 19.3 million euros, after 14 consecutive draws with no winner. At the time the lucky numbers were 17,22,36,39,42 and the Joker was 14.
The second largest amount won was in November 2014 when two lucky people shared 18.4 million euros. The six lucky numbers were 9,14,20,24,30 and the Joker was 16.
