Greek Anarchists Occupy Labor Ministry, Leftist Newspaper

Self-professed anarchists of the Rubicon group raided the Greek Labor Ministry on Monday shouting slogans and scattering flyers, protesting pension cuts and security contribution hikes.
The perpetrators put up a banner saying “We will not live like slaves. We will not die like beggars.” Police arrived on the spot around 2 pm and apprehended 15 people who were taken in for questioning. The perpetrators had posted a statement on an anarchist website calling the ministry the “conductor” through which all austerity measures are passed on to the Greek people.
Meanwhile, another group of anarchists on Monday occupied government-friendly, leftist newspaper Avgi, protesting a court decision for the deportation of Egyptian asylum seeker Mohamad Abdelgawad.
Approximately 30 people barged in the newspaper building in the afternoon and took positions on the third floor and the entrance. They claimed that their action is in support of Abdelgawad who is on hunger strike at the Mytilene hospital on Lesvos island, protesting the deportation decision.
The anarchists left the building a little before 8 pm.
