Refugee Children Get Warm Welcome in Greek School

The refugee children who went to the 1st and 2nd Kalochori Elementary Schools on Thursday received the warmest welcome from students and teachers alike.
The children went to the school as part of the new Host Structures for the Refugee Education school program, under the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs.
Children from both schools welcomed their refugee peers with smiles and songs and offered them symbolic gifts. They had decorated the classrooms, corridors and walls, while banners with the word “Welcome” in English and Greek were hung in places.
The refugee children were touched by the warm welcome and were very excited with the school and their first lessons.
The situation was similar in the 3rd High School of Eleftherio – Kordelio, where teenage refugees 13-15 years old went to attend their first day in school.
