Two out of Three Greek CEOs Consider Moving Abroad

Two out of three executives in Greece consider moving abroad, either with the company or by themselves, a new study shows.
In a study conducted by ICAP Group with the participation of 600 executives, only one in three are happy with their job and prospects in Greece, while two out of three expressed the desire to move abroad.
At the same time, two out of five “have their eyes open” for a better position, although they are satisfied with their current work status, and they are actively seeking to work for another company.
Most CEOs believe that they will remain in their post, either by choice or by necessity, until an older age than before the economic crisis. Also, only one in ten top executives said they are willing to move in the public sector stating as a reason the inability of the State to attract talented personnel.
The study also looked into the problems Greek companies face regarding their prospects and their CEOs. A dominant problem is the anxiety over the further deterioration of the economic environment and the impact on their company. The pressure for ever-better results — the main stress company directors once had — has shuffled to second place, while now the main concern is the constant pressure to ensure liquidity and payment obligations.
Furthermore, there is concern over the increasing pressure for difficult decisions, such as layoffs and wage reductions. Moreover, two out of three CEOs said that they are concerned over the difficult decision to ask their personnel to work more hours for less pay.
Also, three out of five executives said that they are afraid that they might lose their job or be demoted with lower pay due to the continuing recession.
