Gov’t Gives $200,000 Grant to the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia

Christmas came early this year for the Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia (GOCSA), which just received a $200,000 grant from the SA government.

The grant is to be used towards restoring Olympic Hall to building standards.

The gift was given to the GOCSA on Thursday December 15 during the Community’s Annual Volunteers Christmas Dinner at Olympic Hall where State Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis made the announcement.

President of GOCSA, Bill Gonis accepted the grant and later told the Greek-Australian newspaper Neos Kosmos: “We are very grateful for the State Government thinking of us and giving us the grant,” adding “And of course it means a lot to the community because in this day and age it’s so hard to get government grants. Especially at this time of year, we’re in the spirit of Christmas, and we were extremely happy with that and it will of course be going to good use, upgrading our Olympic Hall.”
