Greek Parliament tabled an amendment to scrap a new tax hike and instead extend the bill that gives a VAT discount for several of the country’s islands on Monday.
The vote on the matter is to be held later in the day and many in favor of the extension have cited the migrant crisis impacting the country as a solid reason to continue the VAT discount on the Aegean islands, particularly those that have become refugee hotspots.
The opposition, New Democracy (ND) has said that it plans to vote in favor of the extension.
