7th National Conference Against Smoking in Greece a Great Success

President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos attended the 7th National Conference entitled “Education for a World without Smoking — LEARN NOT TO SMOKE” held at Thessaloniki.
The conference for preventing smoking by students is organized by the Greek Cancer Society, the Public Health Institute of the American College of Greece in cooperation with the Ministry of Education.
The conference was held at the auditorium of the Center for Science and Technology Museum “Noesis” in Thessaloniki, in front of an audience of students from the first through the tenth grade who raised their voices against smoking. The students presented theater, and dance skits and music performances.
The conference was attended by the Region of Central Macedonia Governor Apostolos Tzitzikostas, George, Margo and Drake Behrakis of the Behrakis Foundation of Boston funding the smoking prevention programs in Greece, Panagiotis Behrakis, Director of the Public Health Institute of the American College of Greece, Paraskevi Pataca, Associate Dean of School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Claudia Karydis, vice president of public affairs of the American College of Greece, President of Anatolia College, Panos Vlachos, the representative of the Primary Education Directorate of Thessaloniki Charalambos Akritidis, Deputy Head of Science & Secondary Education / Pedagogy Mentoring Constantinos Keramidas, and the presentation and coordination of the event was conducted by the coordinator of European Programmes Directorate for the PED Thessaloniki Region, Costas Vasileiou.
The conference, that was under the auspices of President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, is part of a wider effort to prevent students from entering the “culture of smoking,” sponsored by The Behrakis Foundation.
