Politicians of All Parties Attend the Kostis Stephanopoulos Funeral

The funeral service for former presidentĀ of the republic Kostis Stephanopoulos was held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at St. Dimitrios Church of Palaio Psychiko in Athens.
The service was held with head of state honors and from 2:10 until 2:20, 21 cannon shots were fired in his honor from Lycabettus Hill.
Furthermore, by decision of Interior Minister Panos Skourletis, the day of the funeral was declared day of public mourning and flags in public buildings will fly at half mast throughout the day.
The burial of the former president will take place in his hometown of Patras, in the Municipal Cemetery. The services will be at public expense.
Several prominent politicians attended the funeral at St. Dimitrios Church, including President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, New Democracy president Kyriakos Mitsotakis, former prime minister Antonis Samaras, To Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis, General Secretary of the Greek Communist Party Dimitris Koutsoumbas, while former ministers, MPs, businessmen and ordinary citizens paid their respects as well.
