Dear President-Elect Trump,

It is on the occasion of your election as the 45th President of the United States of America that we hasten to wholeheartedly congratulate you both personally and also on behalf of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. We convey to you our warmest wishes for health and strength, as you assume your new responsibilities, and express our heartfelt prayers that all which you strive to achieve be adorned with righteousness.

As you have seen with your own eyes throughout your campaign, our broken and divided world is in need of leaders today who can offer wisdom and prosperity, peace and reconciliation. Thus, by fervently placing your hope and trust in the Lord, most especially during this present moment in time when we are desperately in need of the cessation of war and violence, the eradication of poverty and hunger, you will most certainly be able to increase solidarity among nations as well as ensure the protection of the dignity of every human person across the globe.

Commending you once again upon your success and beseeching our loving God to grant your great nation His grace and infinite mercy and to you every good and perfect gift from above, we remain with much love and the highest esteem.

Prayerfully yours,
