The most spectacular supermoon in nearly 70 years lit up the Greek skies on Monday. The full moon’s technical name is perigee-syzygy of the Earth-moon-sun system. Scientists say that the last time the moon was this close to the Earth was in January 1948, whereas the next time will be November 2034.
The moon came 348,400 kilometers near the earth, making it appear 30 percent brighter and 14 percent bigger than it usually appears.
