First Day of School For 30 Refugee Children in Rafina

school_refugees-thumb-large-thumb-largeThe government initiative to integrate refugee children into Greece’s public school started at the beginning of the year’s school season has been met with some protests from parents but overall has been successful and the children have been welcomed by the schools and their communities.
On Monday the latest group of refugee children attended their first day of school in the Greek city of Rafina, located just outside of Athens.
The 30 children, who are living at a migrant accommodation center in the city, attended classes at the 1st Primary School of Rafina where they found a warm welcome by Rafina’s mayor and the deputy regional governor of Attica.
