Qatari Sheikh Complains of Denial of Justice on Investment Project in Greece

katat1-thumb-largeQatari Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, is accusing the Greek justice system of denial of justice for refusing to conduct a hearing on the sale of properties on Zakynthos island.
The hearing of the Zakynthos Archdiocese law suit against Pimana SA, the company owned by Al Thani, was postponed for the third time, causing distress to the former Emir of Qatar.
The property sale concerns a 15 square kilometer area near the famed Shipwreck beach on Zakynthos that Pimana bought in 2014 for 10 million euros. However, the local diocese claims ownership of  3 square kilometers of the property.
At the same time, for bureaucratic reasons, the ownership of the property is challenged by the local municipality that claims 10,000-15,000 square meters of the property.
The sheikh arrived on Zakynthos this week for the scheduled hearing, only to be told it had been postponed again, causing a strong reaction. Pirana SA filed a law suit against the Greek State asking for the recognition of the transaction.
According to a Real News newspaper report, Al Thani has criticized the Greek State for sending away investors with all its bureaucratic procedures. He is quoted as saying “investing in Greece is a joke.”
