Greek Anarchists Plan to 'Welcome' Obama to Athens

Greek anarchist group Rouvikonas is known for storming into public buildings and organizing protests. The anti-state group is now calling on its members to “welcome” U.S. Prime Minister Barack Obama during his official visit to Athens from November 15-16.
The group issued a call to its members on its own website, where it explained that apart from “injecting SYRIZA’s regime profile with prestige, Obama’s visit does not offer anything else.” The group invites its supporters to take to the streets as it has at other times, such as during the “raids in Yugoslavia and Iraq.”
“Even though the EU is at the forefront (of Greece’s problems), the United States [are] deeply buried in the Greek crisis via the International Monetary Fund (IMF),” notes Rouvikonas. “It is a global monitoring mechanism of the capitalist economic class, NATO and globalization serving a liberal agenda. At a time of memorandums, even though the German state has supremacy in the EU, and even more draining of wealth from the working class to the benefit of debt, it is the IMF that is fighting desperately for the abolition of workers rights, employment protection and the once welfare state.” Furthermore, the group notes that Obama is not coming to Greece for a debt write-off or even debt relief, but to corner Germany, its own rival, and henceforth continue to dissolve the EU, without however, fully dismantling it. The group notes that so far labor reforms have pleased the Federation of Greek Industries.
